Some Tours of Bangkok involve driving
you from one sight to another, while others have knowledgeable
guides. It is possible to find your way around yourself with
more flexibility, but a tour is much easier and not much more
expensive.
City and Temples tour
Usually involves visiting Chinatown and Wat Traimit, the Pak Klong flower market, Wat Pho and other sights. Although this can done hiring a taxi, a tour is reasonable value if you have a good guide.
Samut Prakan Crocodile Farm / Ancient City
These are close together and can both be visited in a whole day tour. They are difficult to reach by public transport, so a tour is necessary.
Damnoen Saduak Floating Market / Rose Garden / Nakhon Pathom
The most popular tour from Bangkok is to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in Ratchaburi province. Tours to Damnoen Saduak will usually visit the Rose Garden and the chedi at Nakhon Pathom. The Rose garden is set in landscaped tropical gardens but is mainly visited for its the cultural show' of traditional dance, Buddhist ordination ceremony, Thai boxing and elephants at work.
Nakhon Pathom is famous as the oldest town in Thailand and the place where Buddhist missionaries first entered Thailand from India.
Ayuthaya
One day tours provide an introduction, but it is so large that they can’t cover all of the highlights. Attractions include elephant riding and a longtail boat trip.
Pattaya
These usually go to an island off Pattaya, Ko Larn, for swimming and snorkeling and from Bangkok it may be a good idea to go for a few nights.
River and Khlongs tour
These go around the canals in Thonburi with a stop at Wat
Arun, but vary in what other sights they offer.
